A arte da tradução, ou por que a "Alice no País das Maravilhas" em inglês de repente se tornou Anya

"Alice no País das Maravilhas" de Lewis Carroll é um dos contos de fadas mais adorados que crianças e adultos gostam de reler.

Mas, ao mesmo tempo, é também uma das obras mais difíceis de traduzir para outras línguas. O autor generosamente usa metáforas, referências e trocadilhos que são compreensíveis apenas para os britânicos, explora rimas infantis populares e características culturais. A obra está repleta de sutilezas filológicas, nuances e humor linguístico. 

O tradutor se depara com a tarefa mais difícil: transmitir toda essa variedade de significados e torná-la compreensível para um pequeno leitor de língua russa. Até Vladimir Nabokov fez a tradução e, em sua versão, Alice de repente se tornou Anya. Por que isso é feito e qual tradução do conto é considerada canônica - hoje estamos falando sobre isso.
